Privacy Policy

Who we are

This policy explains how Vintality Tech Inc. (“Vintality”, “we”) collects, uses and shares personal information through vintality.com. It applies to this website only. Our Wines & Vines newsletter is hosted by Substack, and Substack’s own privacy policy applies there.

Vintality Tech Inc. is a British Columbia company based in the Okanagan. Our registered office is 3053 Edgemont Blvd, North Vancouver, BC V7R 2N5.

Chris Mark, President, is responsible for how we handle personal information. For any privacy question or request, email terroir@vintality.com or write to us at the address above.

What we collect

We collect only what you give us and what our site tools record about your visit. We do not take payments on this website and you cannot create an account.

  • Contact, quote, FarField and Lumo forms: your name, email or phone, your message, the items and block details you send, and whether you agree to occasional emails from us. We use these to answer you, prepare a quote or book a walkthrough.
  • Quote list and trellis calculator: the items, quantities and block details you enter. These stay in your own browser until you send a quote request. If you email yourself an estimate, we receive your email address and the estimate.
  • Analytics and ad measurement: pages you view, the site or ad that sent you, device and browser type, approximate location, and actions such as starting the calculator, tapping our phone number or sending a form. We use these to see what works on the site and measure our ads.
  • Spam protection: information Google reCAPTCHA reads from your browser when you send a form, to block automated spam.
  • Security and hosting: your IP address and basic request details, kept in server and firewall logs to keep the site running and secure.

Cookies and similar tools. Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn and OpenAI (ChatGPT Ads) set cookies or use similar technology on this site. Our quote list and calculator also save your entries in your browser’s local storage so they are still there when you come back. You can clear or block these in your browser settings; the quote list will then start empty.

How we use it, and your consent

We use your information to:

  • answer your enquiry, prepare and follow up on quotes, and deliver what you order;
  • run FarField, Lumo and consulting work you have asked us for;
  • send you occasional field notes by email, only if you ticked the box on our form;
  • measure how the site and our ads perform, and show our ads to people who are already in contact with us;
  • keep the site secure and meet our legal and accounting obligations.

When you send us a form, you consent to us using your details for that enquiry. Using the site with analytics and ad tools on is implied consent to the measurement described here. Our marketing emails follow Canada’s anti-spam law: we send them only with your consent, and every one has a way to unsubscribe.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing terroir@vintality.com. If you do, we may not be able to complete a quote or service that depends on that information.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run our business, and when the law requires it.

  • Google: email (Google Workspace), Google Analytics, Google Ads, Tag Manager, reCAPTCHA, and the spreadsheet our quote requests are copied to.
  • Meta (Facebook, Instagram), LinkedIn and OpenAI (ChatGPT Ads): ad measurement and ad audiences.
  • Substack: our newsletter sign-up and mailing list.
  • Cloudflare: delivers and protects the website.
  • Our web host: stores the website and its form submissions.

Ad matching. We may share encoded (hashed) contact details, such as your email address, with Meta, Google, LinkedIn and OpenAI so they can show our ads to people already in contact with us. Their pixels on our site also help us measure how our ads perform. To opt out, email terroir@vintality.com.

Data outside Canada. Several of these providers store or process information in the United States and other countries. There, it is subject to those countries’ laws and may be accessed by their courts and authorities.

We may also disclose information when required by law, or as part of selling or reorganizing our business, where the buyer agrees to protect it as this policy does.

Your choices and rights

  • See or correct your information. Email terroir@vintality.com and we will show you what we hold about you and correct anything that is wrong. We answer within the time BC law requires.
  • Stop our emails. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or email us.
  • Opt out of ad matching. Email terroir@vintality.com.
  • Limit tracking. Block or clear cookies in your browser, use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or change your ad settings with Google, Meta and LinkedIn.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Keeping it safe, and how long

We keep enquiries that don’t lead to work for up to 3 years, then delete them. We keep customer records for as long as Canadian tax and accounting rules require. Analytics and ad platforms keep their own data under their own settings and policies.

We protect information with access limited to our team, encrypted connections to the site, a website firewall and the security of our providers. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach puts you at real risk of significant harm, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.

This website is meant for farm and winery businesses. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes and contact

We will update this policy when what we collect or how we use it changes, and change the “Last updated” date at the top. For any question, email terroir@vintality.com or write to Vintality Tech Inc., 3053 Edgemont Blvd, North Vancouver, BC V7R 2N5.
